GigaSat vehicle conversions are carried out primarily as a platform for our own SNG antennas and associated uplink electronics.
Our uplink systems are designed for absolute minimum overall dimensions and weight, with a range of antenna sizes making them suitable for use on virtually any vehicle from a compact station wagon right up to a multiple camera outside broadcast mobile production unit.
The choice of vehicle for use as a platform for the uplink is very much dependent on the additional requirements the vehicle needs to service. GigaSat specialise in satellite news gathering systems and for this application the vehicle needs to be compact enough for operation within city centres but fast and comfortable enough for long cross country travel at the legal speed limit. Ideally it should also be light enough that it can be driven without restrictions by anyone with a car licence. Typically we build on a Mercedes Sprinter platform but we are equally happy to convert any other type of vehicle.
In a short time GigaSat has achieved a reputation for ultra high quality and obsessive attention to detail. This is evident in everything we do and our vehicle conversions are no exception.
GigaSat SNG vehicles are built to be minimum weight without compromising the structural integrity of the donor van. Aerospace materials are used wherever practical.
A typical vehicle will include 3 main equipment racks across it’s width, with an operator desk in front. This can have horizontally mounted equipment set into it such as camera racking and audio mixing consoles. Space behind the front passenger seat can be used for a 4th rack, editing desk or pneumatic mast whilst space in the over cab area is utilised for storage. The interior is then finished in a choice of real wood veneers giving it a feeling of space and luxury.
