Encoder/Modulator/Upconverter
Digital satellite communications for the TV broadcast industry relies on a combination of microwave and software engineering. Traditionally these have been very different skills and engineers from one industry have never really understood the other. The result has been that MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 encoder/modulators have been kept apart from the rest of the uplink system with their own independent control. GigaSat recognized a requirement for a far more integrated approach.
The FVE-series includes conventional MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 4:2:0 / 4:2:2 encoders and 70 MHz DVB modulators but in the same compact chassis can provide options for L-band output, C-band output, Ku-band output, DBS band output or any combination making it a multi band Digital Video Exciter.
A large LCD control panel on the front of the FVE series provides comprehensive control of all encoder/modulator functions plus upconverter frequency and power control.
An entire earth station for video contribution or distribution can now be configured using only an FVE-series digital video exciter, an HPA and an antenna
